Race is on for Afghanistan’s Minerals

Via DW, a short video look at the race for Afghanistan’s minerals:

Afghanistan possesses an invaluable wealth of mineral resources. Following the Taliban’s takeover, Europe and the US are holding back on investment, while other countries are already jostling for access. China, Russia, Turkey, Qatar, Pakistan and India see opportunities for economic investment in Afghanistan. The focus is on raw materials that are important for the global energy, technology and industrial sectors. Some of these countries are establishing contacts in the Afghan capital, Kabul. But the country’s strategic location is also of interest. Europe and the US remain cautious, primarily due to political uncertainties, security risks and legal hurdles.

WILDCATS AND BLACK SHEEP
Wildcats & Black Sheep is a personal interest blog dedicated to the identification and evaluation of maverick investment opportunities arising in frontier - and, what some may consider to be, “rogue” or “black sheep” - markets around the world.

Focusing primarily on The New Seven Sisters - the largely state owned petroleum companies from the emerging world that have become key players in the oil & gas industry as identified by Carola Hoyos, Chief Energy Correspondent for The Financial Times - but spanning other nascent opportunities around the globe that may hold potential in the years ahead, Wildcats & Black Sheep is a place for the adventurous to contemplate & evaluate the emerging markets of tomorrow.
