Having traveled extensively around our ever shrinking globe and possessing a keen interest in business, investment, and economic development of emerging economies, it is my pleasure to introduce Wildcats & Black Sheep – The New Seven Sisters and Other Maverick Investment Opportunities, a new blog dedicated to the identification and evaluation of maverick investment opportunities arising in frontier markets around the world. This forum seems to an ideal mechanism to explore, contemplate, and evaluate the emerging markets of tomorrow.
Initially, I’ll be posting once a week and, in time, I may post more frequently. Wildcats will embrace many different potential opportunities and markets, even those deemed by some to be “rogue†or “black sheep†environments from their particular individual perspective or ideological bent. As my brief biography indicates, I am not a professional investor, geologist, petroleum engineer, or oil company executive. Rather, I am an individual keenly interested in the emergence of strategically important companies in strategically important industries in the developing world. So, this blog is intended to spark interest, debate, and further conversation on emerging firms and markets; it is not – per my disclaimer below – meant to provide specific recommendations to anyone seeking particular investment advice or guidance.
I wish in closing this brief introduction to express my gratitude to Chun Yan-Miu for his valuable assistance in designing and setting up this blog, and to thank my wonderful wife whose support and interest in this endeavor were critical to motivating me to take it from a mere idea to reality. All errors, omissions, flawed viewpoints, and incomplete analyses that may inadvertently occur in the weeks and months ahead are mine, and mine alone.
Welcome to Wildcats and Black Sheep. I hope you visit often.
